Upon watching Glee, I realized that there are somethings in these life I didn't achieve or yet to achieve. I don't know why I feel this envy thing. I envy them because they do have the chance to expose themselves in the spotlight and have the chance to sing it aloud. I envy them because they did what I haven't, to take a lead to renovate myself and expose what I can do. I failed my inner dream to be a singer.

Let me tell you something, online journal. I sing for the most of my life. At the bathroom and even outside the bathroom. It's like I DON'T care how our neighbors feel about my voice drilling down their eardrums or waking up their sleeping non-energy carrying souls. I care about the thought that our home is like a stage, a place where I am safe to sing. No one will scold at you because of those flats and sharps. No one will have to tell you "Stop singing, you're not good at it". The thought that my family supports me relieves me and makes me continue this journey. This journey of a forked way of not misleading directions, but paths of checkboxes where I don't have to choose one but to have them one at a time until the time comes I have them all, NO REGRETS. 

Online journal, my life is very complex. Even when I started going to school, everything was always at chaos. I don't know how to handle my talents (I think the right word). Actually my parents discover my talent for singing when I was still a toddler. I sung Nandito Ako by none other than Ogie Alcasid. And the rest gave me the opportunity to further enhance my talent. I always sing at flag ceremonies, Cabuyao Hymn, where I am always the one to sing that part. I always have that microphone at hand, the sun facing me as if a spotlight (no kidding, our school's stage faces the east and that's 6:30 am). My voice's a little higher then. I always reach the high B. Bravo! Later that 6 year journey, during grade 6, my teacher offered me a chance to join my first inter school competition. I remember my piece is "if we hold on together", which I have on hand a cassette tape on hand originally bought by mother. I was about to take that challenge when suddenly I have to choose whether I will take our classes or I will join it. Coupled with the fear of losing and low confidence in myself, I gave the opportunity to Princess, a 5th grader that time. 

From that moment on, my star slightly grow dimmer.

However, the star shone bright again when I was in high school. My teacher in English told me to sing The Journey in front of the class. It was our elementary graduation song and it feels like the odds brought me into this chances again. Later that day, she told me to Audition (with a capital A) for the School's choir. I saw this AGAIN as an opportunity so I grab it. My audition piece was a simple Amen song (since our choir group sings every Saturday for our school's anticipated masses). That simple song must not be thought of as a nothing because it shows off every little note, like a vocalization technique. From a lower to a higher pitch. I even said to myself it would get even better if I sing it with a backup to handle the second voices. However, everything went fine and I became part of the school choir labeled Tenors. That was not the first time I heard of that word. 

Every Saturday was a concert for me. I miss my co-choirs. Always. Everytime we sing together and serve God, it feels like I am an angel sent by God from above.

Then high school's over. The singing again is over. With a single winning intra school Campus Duets as champions for the piece If I Ain't Got you with Petit, my co-duet, the ball rolled over again to turn me into an ordinary me again. The lights, again, turned off. When I stepped college, I became a geek again. Actually, I told to myself that if I would not become someone that will never be me someday, I will compensate into studying, studying and studying. For two years, that is my life. Review here and there even tougher during major exams. I missed the FEU Theater Guild and FEU Chorale auditions. I even envy Yza, my classmate, because she did have the guts to audition at the chorale and luckily she became part. But she told me the rehearsals are harder each day. They even pack up as late as 9 pm. 

 The door, AGAIN, opened up for me. The try-outs for the Talentpool of JPIA became a key for me to expose my singing skills. The General Assembly was the time when I have the chance to sing it aloud. With the piece What Makes you Beautiful/ Call me Maybe Mashup by One Directions and Carly Rae Jepsen, our Talentpool team made an uproar. It was the first time I performed inside the FEU Auditorium, an old-theater-like ambiance which only a little smaller compared to others abroad. The second time I performed was when I joined the Singing competition of IABF. Though I didn't win that contest, It was an experience for me to get better the next time. 

I think I'm a Gleek. Downloading the 2nd season because I'm through with the first. I'm trying to relate myself into it. Reflecting the "failure direction" I didn't took. Looking at the path that's webby, dusty and old. Only waiting to be unraveled again by no one but me. My singing career still waiting for me to revisit the thought that after college, I still may have the chance to polish my talent and make known to the world that there has been a miniature part of the Earth named Charles Anson Renz A. Cambaling who moved it and told to hiimself that he did have the guts to take even for the best of both worlds.

Why?

I realized the catastrophe brought to me by "wool-gathering". To those who don't know about this word, it just simply means you read without understanding because you are thinking of other things other than the one your are doing. IT is nonsense reading in layman terms, but nearly not nonsense in another scholastic way since you are reading what you should.

Nevermind the word plays, the real deal is that many of us sometimes experienced this. Many of us realized the fact that reading is more of a challenge rather than listening. Except you have the courage to get the ball rolling once you have started it.

I've read an article that the average time a person can read on FOCUS is 20 minutes. Pretty short, although for an accountancy student like, I really have to take the guts to read whole day. Imagine the stress it will bring you if you read without understanding.

Stressing it out, I found solutions to this antagonizing skeptics. READING through a good comprehensive READING book helped me a lot to pass through those READING stuff.


RULE #1. 
READING requires IMAGINATION.

Surveying through a book is the initial step towards success. Looking at pictures may help but honestly book's authors don't mind this, paying good illustrators to make their books look like fan art usually when things aren't needed at all. Instead of paying illustrators the artistic fee, they mind making their books as thick as the thickest dictionary you may find in your damn school library. Well, I guess , in my humble opinion, IMAGINATION (sparkle, sparkle) will help you absorb the lessons you are about to dive into (more than a pool, huh?). Try thinking of things, like a concept map. Instead of getting into the complexities, why not make a mental image of all the things you are about to review, visualize all concepts by linking it through each possible dots until you make a perfect and artistic mental art, that worth more than a Picasso or Da Vinci masterpiece.


RULE #2
WHY?

To get through a book, A QUESTIONABLE MIND will help you sort out chaotic things. After you imagined the topics, try to formulate questions that will help you understand fully. Like what is always told during your school years," those who asks more are clever" rather than just reading the book and imagining what it's like, try to be questionable, why this? why that. etc. etc.


RULE #3
GET the LENS and THE MIND, focused on the TARGET

You know, reading is not only just about imagining, or questioning what's IN THERE, it requires maintaining you view. Imagine looking through the lens of a camera and suddenly someone pushes you, do you think you can get back to where you are focusing, obviously not. It is not always easy to recover where you have just ended. Your focus is very essential. Even a tiny concept away from your mental map may ruin the whole picture, not unless you have a very good BACKUP and you can get together lost mental images of you topics.


Well, there are things that is outside the scope of this three rules, but all through my studying, they have been become my sine qua non. No more no less, that guarantees me of reading luck and expertise. I always try to perfect this three rules so that all through my life, books will always be just below my dominion.

Quality Time Management

Recently, I have read an article about time management. It lists some of the tips a student may take in order to maximize their time but honestly this isn't the case. Proper time management isn't about how you spend your time for your homework or studies rather it talks of how quality time is achieved and what are the ways of doing so. Quality time is more of a substantive rather than quantitative aspect. It explains of how a person can get the most out of his time without being sluggish or inefficient. It merely talks of how a person can use his time to the fullest but still maintain his health and vigor is as good as possible. I'd rather talk of QUALITY TIME MANAGEMENT than time management only. Listed here are the eight ways on how to improve such time management and my corresponding comments to them: (Credits to collegelife.about.com)

1. Get and use a calendar--Honestly, I am doing this a lot of time but almost 90% don't work. If you are a determinate and  stick-to-the-plan person, then go push. However, most of the students, admit it or not, are not so obedient when they plan things up. Many are into random work completion rather than that of scheduling. On the contrary, About.com stated that one of the tools of time management is using a calendar. Well, I guess it will be proved most useful to office workers and students-on-charge rather than to full-time school students. 

2. Write down everything --- If you are not planning to use a planner (huh??), then try jotting down all possible work to do. Writing's counterpart is reminder and that's why it is useful. It will give a sense of urgency to finish things. In my case, sometimes it's hard to review when I'm not informed of what to begin with. The hardest part is that you are in chaos when things more important are put in the last, but it depends on your preference on what to do first or last.

3. Schedule time to relax - - a fatigue mind cannot think at all. Some people say that if you love what you are doing then you are not going to be tired of doing it. On the contrary, how about those who are not in the same situation? Well, I find relaxing a good idea. Why? Simply because relaxing guarantees a more efficient mind. In my case, relaxing gives me a break. It is better when you put relaxing stages in between your work stuff rather than after. But among all reasons, the best is that it creates a sense of urgency. Think about this, when you are working at a specific stuff for the longest hour you can, you will definitely think of other good things rather than finishing it, right? And besides having been through it doesn't guarantee your work is good. Now, the better option is to have fun first then work on it. Simple suggestion yet you will find out why. 

4. Keep trying new systems --- why not reform your patterns. Choose the best way to guarantee that your time is being spent well on quality things. In studying, choose the best time you are comfortable and well productive with. Is it when you wake up early in the morning, or is it when you stay up late at night finishing all things. Is it when you are listening to music or is it when you are in a quiet place. 

5. Allow for flexibility ---- Think if such system still gives you time to finish. I recommend finishing easy things rather that difficult. Simply because hard things require much time than the easy one. 

6. Plan ahead --- nevertheless, planning for all things leads us to,

7. Plan for the unexpected -- - - Contingencies, this things are those you unexpectedly do just because you don't expect for it. For most, this contingencies become a major problem when they strike at a time we're most fully hectic. Allow for time for those stuff.

8. Schedule rewards in. Like what is stated above, however, in a different manner, this talks of giving yourself rewards in case you finish a thing. 

That's all, it depends upon your knowing of what quality time means. Discretion still belongs to the person and not to the dictator.

Sneak Peaks

To HG fans out there, I know that you are seriously waiting for the sequel, but be vigilant. I know November 22, 2013 is almost a year away but that's what makes it exciting, isn't it?

Not yet through

First week isn't over yet. This week's half's full-packed with much activities that is going to be a headcracker. Meanwhile, thank God, I passed the first quiz in Law 2. It isn't easy to review quickly along with tasks isn't connected with what we are doing right now. I guess this is just the beginning of all the things we are to expect. Honestly, what I feel right now is unexplainable. I don't know if I am going to be excited about the things I don't really expect. Well, I am used to it besides for all those years I spent in FEU, what to expect. Actually, my life is always been an expectation. One thing I am frightened of is that when I live up too much to my expectations. Well, guys being me isn't easy. Being you, too, isn't easy at all. All I can say is that all  people are unique. We are all formed in different ways.

Howdy!

Bloggers. I have been busy for the past few months. Making up for the accountancy program. Speaking of accounting, does anybody here experiencing the same mind boggling situation, well probably, I know some of you are also making up for your degrees. Sun shone at last, been 4 days out of school. Not good, not bad too. On the contrary I would like to greet my blog, Long time no see (I missed it for long that I speak of it only a few sentences later).

Going back to the accountancy thing. Too many home works have gone my and my blockmates' way. However, it's worth it. Having to face worksheets and thick fingers tapping calculators is my prized achievements. I realized that our professors have gone a long way too just to finish their programs. Even the brightest topnotchers of the CPA Board also experienced this kind of things. They also subjected themselves to the dim and lonely world of accountancy. But that's not the way I want to remember accountancy. I want to see it as a trial for the books. A trial wherein certain courses battle for your time. It may seem to illogical to remember accounting that way. So much for the day. Simple blogs glance yields me great gratitude.

Minesweeper: An introduction

Minesweeper. A game of 99% logic and 1% chance. Actually, it is purely a game of logic for most who played it many times before but for those who didn't, they may as well note it as a game of chance. It is a game composed of several tiles which, may hide certain numbers or worst mines beneath them. If you are too lucky to have your first blank tiles underneath, you might as well finish the game in a matter of less than 3 minutes.

Back to School

Wonder who will I meet in school. Actually I know some of them already but of course I won't be dealing with a bunch of people or something. We will be greeting each other again although it's the college days yet the spirit of camaraderie is still there. I don't want the college days to be dead and gloomy. I want it fun and exciting. Some may think that being in school is so boring but they are wrong. All they think is the boring part, having to comply with the "silly" standard. Well, it's just being idiot. Having to think of school are boring. If you think I'm am pointless and going mad here, well you are a bit slight. I already joined some groups at school so that I can add a bit of adventure. I planned to join our institute's student council committee, being a contestant at an accounting quiz bee (because that's what I am missing right now) and becoming a writer at our school paper's staff.

I think there is so much to doooo.
But I'd rather take the opportunity to do it
than leave it..
Just like what Katniss did.

Director's It

I haven't read Catching Fire. But one thing is for sure. It would not be Gary Ross who would be in-charge of directing the film. I wonder what's the reason behind. Actually, the film itself is very good in terms of how the actors act. Directing a film is not easy. Being the director you are the one in-charge of giving life to the characters by giving "direction" to the actors emotions, internalization, etc. I may speak like a film & multimedia student here but I'm only speaking of what's true. The director is much more important than everybody else in production. Although much of the production nowadays are run through computer graphics imagery but the facial expressions cannot be treated with these. I hope that the next director would be, if ever not as good as Ross but at least he/she can do his/her best.

Other Quotes to Remember!

Although a good career tribute from District 1. Still, Cato hides some fear of joining the Hunger Games. This  is made true by his despair when he found Katniss and Peeta atop the Cornucopia. (To those who don't know Cornucopia, it is a site for food and other bounties which was given by sponsors to their favorites. However, this is also a site for bloodbath because everyone wants to have food and supplies to live longer). This quote was said by Cato when they are being hunted by dog muttations (Muttations are life-like creatures or disturbances sent by the Hunger Games control center to test the tributes ability in survival. This control center is spearheaded by Seneca Crane.)

Cinna was one of the fellow Capitol citizens who was indeed not a Capitol citizen at all. In order to be a "real" Capitol citizen, you must have a certain fashion statement and toxic lifestyle. I remember reading some parts of the 1st book wherein Capitol is bounty of food and other supplies which are imported from the twelve districts. Because of this bountiness, they even intake a special liquid called "icepac" that made them vomit so that they will still have space for their food. On the other hand, Cinna was still one of the fellow allies of Peeta and Katniss because of his beilef in them.

Effie Trinket was a Capitol citizen being sent to District 12 to select the tributes for the Hunger Games. Among the characters of the Hunger Games, she is the most delicate in terms of fashion and lifestyle. This quote was always given by her because no one knows who will ever be the winner. In a district like the D12, being a tribute is always the same as corpse, with the exception of Haymitch Abernathy who was the lone victor of D12 which was still alive. 

Among the allies of the D12, Haymitch is the most supportive. He was the reason behind the gifts of sponsors brought to the gaming arena. This was the most memorable quote given by Haymitch about how to survive the cruel and "gladiatoric" games. Knowing all circumstances, this is just Haymitch's way of saying have hope and give all your best.

A new breed of love and passion right. But that's what is expected of them by the Capitol. Their spark gave the Capitol leaders especially Corialanus Snow chills for having two star-crossed lovers winning the Hunger Games is unusual. This four-word quote spread through the entire series not until Mockingjay. But all I can say is that Suzanne Collins described what true love will become in times of distress and severe despair.

Radiant is what Katniss thinks of herself. This picture was taken when Katniss was on an interview with Caesar Flickerman before the most anticipated Hunger Games. All I can say is that its so awesome. We really salute you, Gary Ross. Jennifer Lawrence really portrayed the act very much and up to this time I still remember the fright in her heart. Overall, I give Hunger Games movie five stars, Bravo!

I cannot guess what Peeta Mellark's character really portrays here. Is he hopeful? Is he afraid of what will happen? Or was he only thinking of some tactics that he can use for the Games. In a Games fit for the bravehearts, there is no place for cowards, however being set in by the odds is the problem. Maybe that's why he fell in love with Katniss. It is her bravery that made Peeta have a crush on her. Meanwhile, this quote of Peeta is one of the most remembered quote of all. 

Catch Fire!

I'm looking forward to writing posts about Catching Fire, the second part in the series of The Hunger Games trilogy. However, it would not be Gary Ross who will be directing the film and Lionsgate made sure of it. There are rumors about the next director of the "thrilling, science fiction film" but one thing I'm sure of is that he must be consistent with what the past director did and what we would be expecting. However, it is hard to adapt movies directly and it would make the movie dull. This is based from one article I've read about movie adaptations. This is true to the extent that all film-makers get the "theme and core" of the novel adaptation and that's it. What I am pointing out is that we  don't want inconsistencies here and as a matter of fact we don't want to be frustrated about the next book being different from what has been read, right?
